We now deeply understand intersectionality; we understand how our identities can intersect with race, queerness, and womanhood. But how can we utilize what we learn and apply it to our reading of scripture?

I think one main issue is that we have pre-existing beliefs about scripture. So today, let’s take a look at scripture through the lens of modern-day stories.

If you’re not familiar with AITA (Am I the Asshole) on Reddit, the premise is simple: You’ve done something that may have gotten you pushback or maybe even some hate, but you’re unsure if you’re the asshole in the scenario. So what do you do? You ask Reddit of course.

Let me share two of those stories, and then you ask yourself: “Is this person an asshole?”

AITA for Celebrating a Huge Deal and Ignoring My Wife's Concerns?

I (35M) have been working hard to climb the corporate ladder and provide a better life for my wife (33F) and myself. Recently, an incredible opportunity came my way that could set us up for life. I'll admit I had to bend a few rules to make it happen, but in the end, I landed the deal.

When the deal was finalized, I was over the moon. In a moment of pure excitement, I jumped up on the conference table and started dancing. I got so caught up in the moment that I even took my shirt off and swung it over my head. The young women in the office were cheering me on, and it felt amazing to be celebrated for my success.

However, when I got home that night, Ashley was furious. Apparently, she had seen the whole thing from another room in the office. She told me that I had made a complete fool of myself by dancing half-naked on the table. I was stunned. Instead of being happy for me and the life-changing deal I had just closed, she was focused on my celebration.

I told her that I'd do it all again and that she should back off. Since that moment, I've found myself less attracted to her, and we haven't been intimate for about a year. There's even another woman at work who has caught my eye.

AITA for telling my wife to shut up and basically ignoring her concerns about my behavior at the office?

EDIT: To clarify, the deal was completely legal, and no one at work had an issue with my celebration. The young women cheering me on were all adults and my subordinates. Ashley doesn't work with me directly but happened to be at the office that day.
