Dear Friends,
A mid-week message from Miche.
Like many of you, I woke up on Wednesday facing a new reality: four years of legislation that will likely have devastating impacts on our community.
To be honest, I haven't had much time to process this myself - my phone and email haven't stopped since Wednesday morning. The messages I've received range from deep anxiety to absolute terror:
"I'm really nervous - both my partner and I are trans men and I feel pretty hopeless. I had plans for the future, and I feel like they're all going away. I'm scared."
"I'm afraid my ex-husband is going to try to come after my baby and take her away."
These messages break my heart. While I still have faith in our judicial system's resilience, I too worry about my children being taken away because some view me as "dangerous."
But there's hope. Many have asked how to help, and there is a tangible way to make a difference. As you may know, I work with Transmission Ministry Collective (TMC), an organization dedicated to supporting trans flourishing in all its forms. In the coming years, TMC will continue to provide critical care for our trans and gender-expansive community, and we need your support to sustain and expand this work.
Here's what your donation will support:
Weekly Support groups (which we expect to reach capacity)
Additional staff and contractors to meet growing community needs
Our upcoming mutual aid fund, which will help community members Relocate from unsafe states, access medical care, and meet basic needs through grocery assistance for example.
I know I typically write about whatever happened in the week or some deep dive in theology but for today, please consider helping my community.
With gratitude and determination,
Miche
